Brazil soy exports may fall slightly in 2010

Brazilian soy exports are likely to fall 2% in 2010, from 28.041 million tonnes in 2009 to 27.5 million tonnes.

The estimate is part of the supply-and-demand table for the soy complex in 2009-10, released by SAFRAS & Mercado. The crush must rise 9%, jumping from 30.3 million tonnes to 32.8 million tonnes.

With that, total demand would hit 63.050 million tonnes, up 3%. Taking into account a production of 67.034 million tonnes in 2009-10 - 15% higher than in the previous season, total supply would climb 10%, amounting to 67.500 million tonnes.
