Taiwan TSC buys 53,000 tonnes US corn, soybeans
 

 

Government-owned Taiwan Sugar Corp. bought two combined cargoes totaling 53,000 tonnes of US No. 2 yellow corn and US No. 2 yellow soybeans in two separate tenders concluded late Wednesday, a Taipei-based trader said Thursday.

 

TSC bought one cargo comprising 23,000 tonnes of corn and 12,000 tonnes of soybeans from trading house Cargill.

 

TSC paid US$146.59/tonne for 10,000 tonnes of corn and US$1.37 US a bushel over the Chicago Board of Trade May contract for the remaining 13,000 tonnes.

 

The cargo is to be shipped either Mar 1 to Mar 15 from the US Gulf or Mar 16 to Mar 30 from the Pacific north-west.

 

In the other tender, TSC bought one cargo comprising 10,000 tonnes of corn and 8,000 tonnes of soybeans from trading house ADM.

 

TSC bought the corn at US$1.28 a bushel over the CBOT May contract, said the trader.

 

The cargo is to be shipped either Apr 11 to Apr 30 from the US Gulf or Apr 26 to May 15 from the Pacific north-west.
