Russia sees growth in meat and poultry production
Russia's meat and poultry output have progressed in January 2013 compared to the 2012 period.
Beef production rose 6.5% to 12,200 tonnes, while pork production rose 26% to 79,900 tonnes, according to statistics from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). Poultry production and further products gained 9.7% to reach 292,000 tonnes.
The country's cattle herd declined 0.6% to 20 million head. Russia's hog herd grew 10% to 19.2 million head, and sheep and goats climbed 5.9% to 23.9 million head.
