Australia's scientists looks into reducing methane emissions by cattle
Scientists in South Australia are looking into a new method to cut down methane emissions produced by cattle.
Researcher Melissa Rebbeck says livestock produces nearly as much greenhouse gases as transport, creating the highest amount of methane in Australia.
To reduce the emissions, the federal government is funding a trial where waste from wineries is mixed in with cattle and sheep feed.
Scientists say the tannins and fats in the grape reduces burping and improves the cattle's digestion.
In implementing these changes, scientists hope it could be the answer to slowing down climate change.
