Almond as alternative animal feed for Australia livestocks

 

 

Almonds are providing to be a viable alternative as animal feed for cattle, sheep and pig stocks around Australia.

 

The outer shell of almond is usually wasted after processing, but due to the high grain prices, demand for the milled hulls are higher than ever before.

 

Manager of Laragon Almond Processing in north-west Victoria, Mark Webber, says producers are now seeing almond hulls as a long-term viable alternative for animal feed to grain.
