Thailand sees cooked poultry meat export to rise

Thailand's export of cooked poultry meat and its products is expected to grow by 5-7% this year.

According to Kukrit Arepagorn, Manager of the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association, this year the country's export of cooked poultry products should expand by 5-7% from 463,000 tonnes last year, valued at US$2.14 billion. Key markets will still be the EU and Japan.

"We do not expect to see the export of cooked poultry meat and its products grow exponentially like raw meat as there is no new market that we can penetrate yet," Kukrit said.

He continued that the favourite orders of Japanese trading partners are chicken karaage and fried chicken while European clients prefer steamed meat and nugget.
