China's corn imports soar in January 2012

Last month, China imported 751,138 tonnes of corn, far higher than the 1,878 tonnes in the same period of the previous year, according to the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday (Feb 21).

The country's corn exports reached 2,310 tonnes last month, a jump of 261% year on year.

China imported a total of 1.75 million tonnes of corn last year, up 11.47% over the previous year.
