Kazakhstan seeks to sow 21.2 million ha grain area
Kazakhstan's agrarians plan to sow agricultural crops throughout the areas of 21.2 million ha (at the level of 2011) in 2012, according to preliminary data of the regional government offices.
The sowing areas under spring crops are forecasted at the level of 18.5 million ha, a decrease of 0.2 million ha or 0.9% compared to the last year level, informed the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Agricultural producers will sow grains throughout the areas of nearly 16.3 million ha, including wheat - 13.5 million ha. Wheat sowing areas will decrease by 0.3 million ha compared to last year, in 2011 the index totalled 13.8 million ha.
The Ministry plans that agrarians will sow oilseeds throughout the areas of 1,657 ha, sugar beets - 18,400 ha.
