Government is currently negotiating possible contract with the company. Each chip costs about RUB40 (US$1.34). The contract size has yet to be disclosed.
At present time Russian legislation prohibits animal chipping. Federal government is reportedly working on passing necessary amendments into respective laws. Animal chipping practice is used worldwide, with Russia being the only meat importing country that has not yet implemented the technology.
