South Australian exporters send grain to foreign markets

A record amount of grain had been sent by South Australian exporters to overseas markets.

In the last 12 months, 8.41 million tonnes of grain has been exported through South Australian ports.

Viterra executive manager, Dean McQueen, says it's the largest amount of grain exported from South Australia in a 12-month period.

"We had very high corn prices globally and a fair amount of feed wheat produced in Australia," he said.

"That feed wheat, found its way into South East Asian export channels, replacing or substituting for that high priced corn."
