Indian steel plant promotes poultry farming
Rourkela Steel Plant in India has initiated a move to promote advanced poultry farming in rural villages as part of efforts to contribute to its community.
The company distributed 1000 chicks of improved breed to selected poultry farmers recently.
The company also provided feed and training for the farmers where they learnt the benefits of improved poultry farming, vaccination, preparation of chicken feed, and construction of shelter for the birds.
The villagers were given, 14-day-old chicks of Vanraj variety, hatched at the Regional Poultry farm at Sundergarh. The breed's fast growth rate and good egg-laying capability makes it a good choice among poultry farmers.
