Russia's Cherkizovo commissions new pork farm
Russian agricultural products group Cherkizovo said Monday Feb 20 that it has commissioned a pork farm in the Lipetsk region of Central Russia, which will produce 50,000 tonnes of pork a year.
The project cost is EUR120 million. The farm will process 400,000 pigs a year.
The project is being supported by the government of the Lipetsk region, and will recoup investment in under five years.
Cherkizovo's consolidated turnover in 2004 was US$466 million.
