Quang Nam province, Vietnam declares PRRS epidemic

The People's Committee of the central province of Quang Nam officially announced an outbreak of blue-ear, or the PRRS pig disease in the province, according to the local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Yesterday, the epidemic struck nearly 2,800 pigs in six districts, of which about 500 were destroyed by local authorities. The department has requested that the provincial People's Committee permit farmers to vaccinate breeding pigs against the disease, said Le Muon, the department's deputy director.
