Russia's January agricultural output up 2.5% on year
The Federal State Statistics Service said in a report Friday (Feb 17) that according to preliminary estimates, Russia's agricultural output grew 2.5% on the year to RUB94.1 billion (US$3.2 billion) in January.
Meat and poultry output increased 6.5% on the year to 800,000 tonnes in January, milk output grew 3.7% on the year to two million tonnes, and egg output was up 2.3% on the year to 3.4 billion units in the same period, the service said.
As of January 31, the number of cattle of domestic agricultural producers amounted to 20.1 million units, up 0.5% on the year. In 2011, the country's agricultural output increased 22.1% on the year to RUB3.45 trillion (US$115.7 billion), the service said earlier.
