Ukraine's grain imports soar 72% in December

 

 

Ukraine's grain imports surged 72.2% or 6,100 tonnes on-year to reach 14,550 tonnes valued at US$34.06 million in December 2011, according sources.

 

In December, the companies mainly imported corn, which amounted to 7,340 tonnes or 50.4% of the total grain imports.

 

Grain imports rose by 54.1% or 5,110 tonnes in December against November.

 

In 2011, as compared with 2010, grain imports increased by 41.9% or 45,190 tonnes to 153,000 tonnes for US$219.79 million.

 

According to the specified data, grain imports in 2010 made up 107,810 tonnes for US$145.55 million.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in November 2011, grain imports increased by 23.5% or 1,610 tonnes compared to November 2010, to 8,450 tonnes for US$4.11 million.
