Bird flu detected in Lao province; 942 birds culled
                            


Bird flu was detected in Khua district, Phongsaly province of Laos on Wednesday (Feb 18), leading to the culling of a total of 903 chickens and 39 ducks, according to provincial bird flu control officer Somphone Ounmixay.

 

Somphone said to prevent the spread of the virus, local authorities have been carrying out measures such as disinfection of poultry farms, slaughterhouses, and vaccination of poultry.

 

Transport and trading of poultry and poultry products will also be closely monitored.

 

He said no human has contracted the virus so far.
