Russian cattle numbers in January down 2 percent on-year
The number of cattle in Russia on January 31 totalled 20.7 million, 2 percent less than a year ago, the federal statistics service said Thursday (February 19).
The numbers of cows on the date fell by 1.8 percent on the year to 9 million. The number of pigs increased by 2.7 percent to 16.2 million while sheep and goats increased by 2.3 percent to 20.7 million.
Total meat output in Russia in January, including cattle and poultry, increased by 7.1 percent on the year to 700,000 tonnes.
