Vietnam to export seafood varieties to Britain as local stocks dwindle

Around 10 Vietnamese delegates have been invited by the business group Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce (MYCCI) on plans for Vietnam to supply seafood products to Britain.

Lately, Britain's stocks of traditional haddock and cod continue to dwindle.

The trade links transpired after a visit to Vietnam by the Wakefield-based Chamber's International Trade Team.

The team went to Vietnam to provide trainings on international trade, leadership and management and food technology.

Elsa Fairbanks, one of the British delegates, said that there is significant potential for the supply of frozen fish and seafood and also exotic fruits from Vietnam into Europe.

Susana Cordoba, the Chamber's development manager, said the recent trade talks will assist South Vietnamese delegation to forge links with their British counterparts.

The Vietnamese delegates were shown Country Park Foods in Huddersfield, and Yorkshire Forward's Food Cluster Inward Investment team and Food Centre of Industrial Collaboration in Leeds.
