Russia to resume poultry imports from Germany in late February

The Russian government plans to lift restrictions on poultry imports from Germany at the end of February, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight, Nikolai Vlasov, said on Friday (Feb 18).

He explained that there would be no danger of dioxin contamination by that time.

The federal service had introduced the ban on German poultry imports in January 2010 due to dioxin contamination of bird feed.

Meanwhile, the temporary ban on all pork product imports from Germany, which was also introduced in January 2010, cannot be lifted until the end of March, Vlasov said.
