Poultry sales up 28 percent on-year for Russia's Cherkizovo Group in 2007

Russian meat producer OAO Cherkizovo Group Monday (February 19, 2008) said sales at its poultry division rose 28 percent on-year in 2007 to 88,000 tonnes.

That figure excludes sales from Chicken Kingdom, which it bought midway through the year and which added an additional 29,000 tonnes in the last four months of 2007. Excluding Chicken Kingdom, sales prices for poultry averaged US$2.15 per kilogramme, up 18 percent.

London-listed Cherkizovo said output at its pork division more than doubled to 28,000 from 12,000 tonnes, with average selling prices rising 7 percent to US$2.30 per kilogramme.

Meat processing volumes however, slid 4 percent, although average prices at that division rose 15 percent to US$3.42 per kilogramme.

Cherkizovo said it expects to produce 175,000 tonnes of poultry in 2008, with meat processing volumes also likely to increase a little.
