Brazil beef exports expected to increase 8-10%
Brazilian beef exports are expected to rise between 8-10% this year, according to Antonio Jorge Camardelli, the President of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (ABIEC).
He said, "we intend to strengthen the markets in which we already have good business relationships, and work to inhibit the restrictions imposed on certain plants to enter markets such as China".
"We are also looking at increasing sales to Morocco, Cuba and Iraq," he added.
Camardelli highlighted the recent recognition by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that identified the Mato Grosso do Sul area as free of foot and mouth disease, through vaccination.
"This was an old struggle that has just been won. This decision is excellent in the eyes of Abiec and will contribute to the strengthening of the Brazilian cattle industry," he concluded.
