Argentina's corn forecast at 19 million-21 million tonnes
Argentina's 2009-10 corn crop is forecast to total 19 million-21 million tonnes, up sharply compared with both the prior year and early expectations in the market for the current year, the Agriculture Ministry said in its monthly crop report Wednesday (Feb 17).
The forecast is the ministry's first for this season's corn crop. Excellent conditions auger high yields, according to the ministry.
The forecast for soy area was left unchanged at 18.2 million hectares, a new record.
Estimates for Argentina's 2009-10 crop production in millions of hectares (HA) or millions of tonnes (MT).
