Russian grain exports double on-year to 13.6 million tonnes
Russia exported 13.572 million tonnes of grain, including 11.953 million tonnes of wheat, 1.608 million tonnes of barley and 11,000 tonnes of rye between the beginning of the current marketing year July 1 and Feb. 13, the Agriculture Ministry said Tuesday (February 17).
The amount of grain exported to date is about double the amount exported a year earlier.
Between Feb. 1 and Feb.13 grain exports totalled 511,000 tonnes, including 451,000 tonnes of wheat and 60,000 tonnes barley.
Grain exports in January were 928,000 tonnes including 856,000 tonnes of wheat and 72,000 tonnes of barley.
Grain exports in December were 1.813 million tonnes, including 1.406 million tonnes of wheat, 405,000 tonnes of barley and 2,000 tonnes of rye.
Grain exports in November were 1.651 million tonnes, including 1.509 million tonnes of wheat, 140,000 tonnes of barley and 2,000 tonnes of rye.
Grain exports in October were 2.445 million tonnes, including 2.194 million tonnes of wheat, 249,000 tonnes of barley and 2,000 tonnes of rye.
Grain exports in August were 2.371 million tonnes, including 2.183 million tonnes of wheat and 188,000 tonnes of barley. Grain exports in September were 2.962 million tonnes, including 2.63 million tonnes of wheat, 332,000 tonnes of barley and 4,000 tonnes of rye.
Russia harvested 108.1 million tonnes of grain in 2008, and the ministry expects grain exports in the 2008-09 marketing year of 20 million to 25 million tonnes.
Russia harvested 82 million tonnes of grain in 2007 and exported 12.754 million tonnes in the 2007-08 marketing year.
