US hog inventory up 4 percent on-year
 

US total inventory numbers of hogs for December 2007 was 65.1 million heads, up 4 percent on-year.

Breeding inventory was at 6.16 million heads, up 1 percent on-year and up slight from last quarter.

Market hog inventory was at 59 million heads, up 5 percent on-year but down 1 percent from last quarter.

Pig crop was at 28 million heads, up 4 percent on-year, and sows farrowed during this period totalled 3.03 million heads, up 3 percent on-year.
