Russia's 2012 poultry imports to decrease 17%
Russia's 2012 poultry imports may fall by 17% on year to slightly 400,000 tonnes, National Meat Association CEO Sergei Yushin told reporters Thursday (Feb 16).
Yushin said that imports are to decrease this year due to cuts in the number of poultry import quotas as well as an increase in domestic production. The demand for poultry in Russia is has slowed in comparison to the demand for pork.
Over the next three years, domestic poultry production in Russia may rise by around 700,000 tonnes, he said.
Yushin also reiterated that Russian farmers plan to boost their annual poultry production to 4.5 million tonnes by 2020.
