Japan bought 138,959 tonnes of milling wheat in a tender on Thursday (Feb 16), a government official said.

The government bought the wheat in three grades for bulk shipment in April, the official with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.

Japan has already covered its wheat import requirements through March and has so far purchased 331,900 tonnes of wheat for April shipment.

Japan, one of the world's largest wheat importers by volume, purchases milling wheat from the US, Canada and Australia.
