MPC to launch US$46.5-million shrimp processing plant

Minh Phu Seafood Company's VND1 trillion (US$46.5 million) Minh Phu-Hau Giang shrimp processing plant should become operational in April, the Vietnamese firm stated.

The plant will be able to process 40,000 tonnes of processed shrimp per year, according to Le Van Diep, deputy director of MPC.

He said the plant will use the latest technology to reduce material waste and production time, so reducing costs.

MPC exported 1,662 tonnes of shrimp in 2010 and reached an export turnover of US$19.8 million, an on-year increase of 70.16% in volume and 106.23% in value.
