Ukraine's grain export for H1 seen at six million tonnes
Ukraine's grain export in January-June, the second half on the 2009-10 marketing year, is likely to total 6 million tonnes, the Ukraine Agrarian Confederation said Friday (Feb 12, 2010).
Total grain export in the current marketing year, which runs from July 2009 to June 2010, is forecast to be 19.5 million-20 million tonnes.
The federation said the 6 million tonnes of grain to be exported in January-June this year would include 2.6 million tonnes of wheat, 2 million tonnes of corn and 1.3 million tonnes of barley.
The agrarian confederation also said grain stocks in the country were sufficient for Ukraine to export 21.5 million-22 million tonnes in the 2009-10 marketing year.
However, it said exporters were restricted by delays in the reimbursement of VAT by the government, with arrears standing at about US$375 million.
