China crop area hit by drought down 427,300 hectares
China's wheat areas under drought totalled 5.9 million hectares Sunday (February 15), 392,000 hectares less than Saturday (February 14), the Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said.
The total crop area in the country affected by the drought was 6.9 million hectares Sunday, down 427,300 hectares from Saturday, said the office in a statement published on its Web site.
Total crop areas under severe drought were also reduced to 2.02 million hectares Sunday, down 62,700 hectares compared with Saturday, it said.
