Poultry in Finland urged indoors during spring migration

The agriculture ministry in Finland will require all poultry kept indoors during spring bird migration season from February 15 to May 31 in attempt to prevent the spread of bird flu.

The mandate applies in all parts of the country and to all farmed poultry, the ministry said, adding that possibility that a bird flu outbreak in Finland is very likely.

The decree also requires poultry raisers to immediately notify local veterinary offices of any exceptional mortality in poultry, or symptoms pointing to bird flu.
