Ukraine sees 65.6% of winter grain sowings in good state
As of February 9, 2012, Ukraine's winter crops are in good and satisfactory state on 65.6% of the planted acreage, said the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of the country.
Winter crops are in good state on 1.8 million ha, which makes up 25.6% of total planted acreage. 2.9 million ha or 40.6% are in satisfactory state.
On 33.8% of the acreage, which makes up 2.4 million ha, sowings are weak and thinned.
In total, out of 8.39 million ha, sowed with winter crops, seedlings are received on 85.5% of the acreage.
By the reporting date, winter rapeseed sowings were in good state on 248,000 ha (32.7%), in satisfactory state - on 253,000 ha (33.5%), 33.8% of sowings on 256,000 ha were weak and thinned.
In total, winter rapeseed was sown on the area of 961,000 ha, out of these, seedlings were received on 758,000 ha (78.9%).
