Netherlands to establish one animal health institute

The Netherlands is working towards one animal health institute that will cover areas from research to improvement programs on the farms.

The Animal Sciences Group (ASG) of Wageningen University and the National Animal Health Service (GD) will come together to accomplish this aim.

All parties will continue their own activities in the new combination. The new cooperation will be realized in the next few months, with current GD director Anton Pijpers will leading it.

ASG and GS see this cooperation as the perfect answer to the rise in agriculture and international quality improvements in food, and that the cooperation could assist in achieving better results.

Both organisations stressed on the importance of this cooperation in staying ahead in knowledge intensive agriculture sectors.

ASG is a knowledge organisation in the field of animal production and animal health that also develops and produces vaccines and specific diagnostics.

GD was founded in 1919 by and for farmers, with the objective of preventing and eradicating animal diseases.
