Russia's BEZRK-Belgrankorm to construct pig complex in Poltava region

A pig complex worth UAH150 million (US$18.7 million) is to be built by Russia's BEZRK-Belgrankorm in the village of Bilyki, Kobeliatskyi district, Poltava region by 2013, a spokesman for the Poltava Regional State Administration has told Ukrainian News.

He says that previously the company was planning to build a complex for 2,500 heads of swine, and now they want to enlarge the scale of construction to 54,000 heads.

The farm will be designed for production of about 7,000 tonnes of pork a year. The holding has already put into operation first phase of the pig complex for 1,660 heads of swine.

Realisation of the investment project will enable creation of about 100 new jobs (at the moment 63 people are employed). Revenues to the village council budget will make some UAH200,000 (US$24,900) a year, including UAH88,000 (US$10,959) from lease of the land plot.

Before, they planned to complete the new complex by 2012. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the farm holding in 2011 planned to finish construction of this pig complex worth US$12 million before 2012.

BEZRK-Belgrankorm has been specialising in poultry breeding and cattle raising since 1998.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has been a minority shareholder since spring 2008.
