Australia's cattle industry stagnates due to flooding
After record flooding, Australia's west Queensland's cattle industry remains at a standstill.
The national highway from Roma to Mitchell is cut because a bridge over the Maranoa River has been badly damaged.
Trucks over five tonnes are not allowed over the bridge which is preventing livestock and freight transport.
Livestock agent from Roma, Rod Turner, says it forced them to cancel many cattle sales across the state.
"90% (of the cattle in Queensland) come this way through Mitchell through the abattoirs and feedlots in south east Queensland," he said.
"No one realised how imperative the bridge at Mitchell is to eastern Queensland with the cattle market."
