Russia to invest up to US$24.3 million in poultry farm by 2009
About RUB600 million (US$24.3 million) of investments are expected by 2009 in a bid to modernise the Sibirskaya poultry farm, located in the Omsk Region.
The reconstruction of the farm started in 2006, as the Russian government pushed its national project of agricultural development.
The head of the farm, Alexander Pechersky, said over 60 percent of the farm's production facilities have been reconstructed.
In 2007, the farm's production was about 22,500 tonnes of poultry, up more than 21 percent on-year.
The farm's annual production is expected to almost double to about 44,000 tonnes by 2009.
