JBS SA acquires poultry processor Frinal

JBS SA, the world's largest meat processor, is set to acquire Brazil-based Frinal, a poultry processor based in Garibaldi, Rio Grande do Sul state, according to news reports.
Frinal has been a player in the Brazilian poultry industry for 40 years offering cuts of chilled and frozen chicken. It employs more than 1,200 workers and processes 120,000 birds per day.
Sáo Paulo-based JBS has claimed the top spot in poultry production through acquisitions. JBS acquired Seara Brasil, a poultry processor once owned by Marfrig Alimentos in September 2013, allowing JBS to surpass US-based Tyson Foods Inc. as the top poultry producer globally.
