Vietnam seafood processors target US$3.6 billion in exports
Seafood processors in Vietnam are eyeing an export turnover of US$3.6 billion in 2007, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
VASEP is optimistic that it will reach the targeted earnings as huge seafood producers such as Minh Phu, Camimex, Jostoco and Agifish have heavily invested in modernising technologies to raise production capacity and diversify export items.
The government of Vietnam has earlier committed to help seafood manufacturers improve their capacity of examining antibiotic residues in materials.
Seafood export revenues were at US$3.36 billion in 2006, surpassing its previous target of US$2.8 billion.
