In January of this year, Brazil exported 34,800 tonnes of pork, which was an on-year drop of 13.09% and provided revenues of US$90.27 million, the president of the Brazilian Association of Industrial Pork Meat Production and Export (ABIPECS) Rui Eduardo Saldanha Vargas said.
He said that Russia, Hong Kong and Angola were the main export destinations for pork from Brazil in the first month of the year.
The president of ABIPECS said that Russia accounted for 34.56% of foreign sales and for 41.36% of revenues, followed by Hong Kong (26.48% and 24.23%) and Angola, with 11.61% and 7.28%, respectively.
Rui Eduardo Saldanha Vargas said that shipments to Russia in January rose 0.93% by weight to 12,000 tonnes and 6.79% by value to US$37.34 million whilst sales to Hong Kong rose 9.01% by weight (9,200 tonnes) and 6.12% by value (US$21.87 million).
