China January grain prices edge up
                        


Prices of major monitored commodities in China were kept stable in January 2009, according to news released by the National Development and Reform Commission on February 11, 2009.

 

The average weighted purchasing prices of corn and wheat in 25 major grain production provinces in the nation reached RMB1.685/kg in the month, inching up 0.49 percent over last December and 4.11 percent over the same period of a year earlier.

 

Average purchasing prices of red wheat, white wheat, and hybrid wheat fetched RMB1.7448/kg in the month, rising 1.51 percent over the previous month and 9.83 percent over the same period of a year earlier.

 

Meanwhile, the average purchasing prices of corn reached RMB1.275/kg, slipping 11.7 percent over the same period of a year earlier.
