Kenya lifts its ban on beef exports
The Kenya Meat Commission has lifted a self-imposed export ban following the outbreak of the Rift Valley Fever.
KMC managing director James Kimonye said that the ban was necessary to allay fears exporting countries may have had, after media reports of the viral disease.
The commission has however resumed exporting after obtaining a non-objective permit from some of the exporting countries.
The KMC now wants to work on adding value to its products.
The government has invested a huge amount to rehabilitate the facility, which is strategically located in the city centre to ensure the availability of KMC's quality meat products in the market.
