Bird flu swiftly spreads in Vietnam's provinces
The Animal Health Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on February 9 reported that bird flu has stretched to five provinces in Vietnam, recently hitting northern Quang Ninh province.
The Department said from January 26 to February 7, the disease had broken out in nine households of Quang An commune, Dam Ha district, killing 155 poultry out of total flock of 230.
During February 8 and 9, the disease killed 840 ducks in four communes of Vi Thuy district, Mekong Delta Hau Giang province.
In Soc Trang, bird flu broke out in three communes of Vien Binh, Tai Van and Vinh Bien of My Xuyen and Nga Nam districts, with total destroyed poultry hitting 1,435 as of February 9.
The disease is now remaining in southernmost Ca Mau province and central Nghe An province.
Meanwhile, foot and mouth disease has also hit five provinces, including central highlands Kon Tum, Mekong Delta Long An, northern Hoa Binh and Son La, and central Quang Binh.
