Australia may reverse carbon issues with cattle grazing method
The Australian cattle industry can become carbon positive by using the right grazing method, according to a leading soil carbon scientist.
A carbon positive industry can be achieved by striking the right balance between fire and grazing management, said Bill Parton, senior research scientist from the Colorado State University.
There is room for beef producers to more than compensate the methane produced by the beef sector, said Parton.
Particularly some of the new grazing techniques such as cell grazing, where producers move the cattle from one area to another and graze intensely in one area before moving them to another area, Parton said.
