India's oilmeal exports down 4% in Apr-Jan
During April 2013 to January 2014, India's oilmeal export was down 4% to 3,615,947 tonnes as compared to 3,756,505 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year.
In January alone export of oilmeals has been reported at 425,650 tonnes as compared to 798,287 tonnes in January 2013, down by 47%. Due to disparity in soy crushing leading to lower processing of soy, export of oilmeals is down in January 2014.
During April 2013 to January 2014, India's oilmeal export to South Korea is reported at 901,661 tonnes compared to 776,635 tonnes last year consisting of 399,148 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 381,416 tonnes of castor meal and 121,097 tonnes of soymeal. Iran almost doubled the import and reported at 1,084,954 tonnes compared to 554,748 tonnes consisting 1,082,992 tonnes of soymeal and 2,662 tonnes of rapeseed meal.
Thailand imported of 307,704 tonnes compared to 395,228 tonnes consisting of 148,610 tonnes of soymeal and 159,094 of rapeseed meal. Export to Vietnam reached 175,349 tonnes compared to 539,627 tonnes last year consisting of 20,571 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 797 tonnes of castor meal, 1,049 tonnes of groundnut meal, 72,342 tonnes of soymeal and 80,500 tonnes of rice bran extraction. India is losing Vietnam market due to stiff competition from other countries and increased availability from domestic sourcing.
Moreover, Japan imported 238,472 tonnes compared to 504,863 tonnes of last year consisting of 4,926 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 833 tonnes of castor meal and 232,713 tonnes of soymeal. Indonesia imported 85,401 tonnes compared to 165,897 tonnes of last year consisting of 38,311 tonnes of rapeseed meal and 47,090 tonnes of soymeal.
