Scotland salmon sales hit record highs
Scottish Quality Salmon (SQS) on Tuesday (Feb 9) announced that sales of Label Rouge Scottish Salmon increased 19% to 7,251 tonnes last year, up from 6,099 tonnes in 2008.
The record sales are credited to support from the Scottish government through a European Fisheries Fund grant. In addition, SQS launched a new marketing campaign to continue to promote salmon.
The campaign includes a website to support a series of seasonal promotions targeting the seafood trade and consumer markets in France.
As the campaign develops this year, new markets including Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands will be targeted.
