Eubiotic found beneficial to sow breeding
Eubiotic Lignocellulose has been found to significantly influence birth process and survival rate of new born piglets, according to the latest research studies conducted by the Austrian Agricultural College St. Florian in collaboration with Agromed Austria.
The studies confirm positive impact of innovative fibre products based on Lignocellulose in pig nutrition.
In the research, eubiotic fibre product OptiCell was investigated in breeding sows.
The 100 percent natural Lignocellulose product was compared with traditional fibre source sugar beet pulp.
Even though crude fibre content was similar in both diets, results showed that the addition of eubiotic Lignocellulose reduced birth process by 100 minutes and increased 0.5 weaned piglets per sow and litter.
The results demonstrated that not only does total crude fibre content of the gestation diet influence the biological performance of sows, the source and quality of dietary fibre also have a big impact on this parameter.
