Russia's 2010 meat imports decrease 2.5% on-year
Russia's meat imports went down 2.5% on-year to 1.278 million tonnes in 2010, the Federal Customs Service said Tuesday (Feb 8).
In monetary terms, imports fell 3% on the year to US$4.142 billion in 2010.
Of the total, meat imports from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) amounted to 1.262 million tonnes worth US$4.087 billion in 2010, the service said without providing a comparison.
Poultry imports fell 32.7% on the year to 649,900 tonnes in 2010. In monetary terms, imports decreased 10.5% on the year to US$863.2 million. All imported poultry came from outside the CIS.
Fish imports amounted to 791,400 tonnes worth US$1.691 billion in 2010 compared to 794,500 tonnes worth US$1.444 billion in 2009.
In 2009, Russia's meat imports fell 19.1% on the year to 1.31 million tonnes, the customs service said earlier.
