Market analysis

 

Pork demand plunged significantly during the week just before the Chinese New Year holidays. However, as hog availability tightened as well, prices remained relatively stable, inching down 0.70%.

 

Pork carcass volumes decreased sharply by 11% to a mere 8,865 tonnes, helping to lift prices by 0.68% to RMB23.78/kg.

  
        

Market forecast                                                          

 

Pork demand is set to stay weak after the festive hiatus, holding prices soft as a result. Nevertheless, with hog inventories limited, price falls are unlikely to be tremendous.
