Bangladeshi farm hit by H5N1 bird flu
A Bangladeshi farm in the Dhaka region has been hit by an outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), as confirmed by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The authorities sent follow up Report No.27 dated 3 February to the OIE.
The report describes one outbreak of HPAI at a poultry farm in Lambadaradi in the Dhaka region. Of the almost 10,000 birds on the farm, 1,500 were found dead from January 24 and the rest were destroyed the following day.
The source of infection is unknown.
