Romanian meat output rises 2% on-year

 

 

Romania's 2010 meat production (in carcass) surpassed 2009 by 2% and stood at 1.002 million tonnes compared with 982,440 tonnes in 2009.

 

According to the data published on Monday (Feb 7) by the National Statistics Institute (INS), beef production stood in 2010 at 154,464 tonnes from 130,228 tonnes in 2009, pork production decreased from 442,745 tonnes to 428,891 tone, and poultry production fell from 358,492 tonnes to 349,021 tonnes.

 

In specialised industrial units, meat production (in carcass) rose by 0.5% from 548,514 tonnes in 2009 to 551,705 tonnes in 2010.

 

Beef production rose from 24,912 tonnes to 27,475 tonnes, pork production increased from 222,167 tonnes to 234,185 tonnes, and poultry production fell from 300,086 tonnes to 287,458 tonnes.

 

In 2010 compared with 2009, the number of slaughtered poultry decreased, while the number of slaughtered cattle, pigs, sheep and goats increased.

 

In December 2010 versus the same month of the previous year. the number of slaughtered animals and poultry and their carcass weight fell at cattle, pigs and poultry, and they rose in terms of sheep and goats.
