Argentina's fish and seafood exports jumps 49 percent on-year
Argentine fish and seafood exports rose 49 percent on-year to nearly US$1.2 billion in 2006, Argentina's national animal and food inspection agency Senasa said on Tuesday (February 6).
Volumes exported increased 30 percent to 579,094 tonnes. Fish exports rose 13 percent to US$549 million in value and 5.0 percent to 356,539 tonnes in volume.
Argentine fish is exported mainly to Spain and Brazil. Both countries import more than 40,000 tonnes worth about US$82 million each.
Other seafood exports rose by 104 pct to US$642 million and by 117 percent to 222,555 tonnes. Argentine seafood was exported mainly to Spain, China, Italy and Japan.
